Fine Art Black and White Photography
My black and white work has always been created using traditional black and white film or black and white infrared film. My goal is to abstract the subject and simplify the composition. The ethereal quality of infrared film allows me to transform ordinary subjects into surreal dreamlike representations. I also enjoy interesting juxtapositions that evoke humor, irony or surprise.
My most recent infrared photography is created digitally using a Nikon camera that only records infrared light. The images are softer and more subtle. I am now able to record some color in my images if I choose. This has opened a whole new avenue to explore and I can now use color to affect the mood and narrative of the image.
Fine Art Color Photography
Most of my color work is created while traveling and the subject matter is diverse. Recurring themes include water, beach scenes and nostalgic childhood haunts though I remain open to new subject matter.
